who misses their crib?

This road trip is OVER!

Yes it is over, however the trauma still remains.

Friday while the movers were packing us up my good friend Hannah let us stay  at her house while she was gone so Joseph could be his wild little self. It was so nice to not have to walk the mall all day long so THANKS!! When the movers finished we went back and cleaned house. I had one sad moment before locking the door for the last time. I would have to say the best memory of the apartment was bringing home my little baby.  The sadness lasted for a brief moment, because thoughts of being in GA were too exciting!

Now the road trip begins.  He was doing really well. Jason and I had nothing to do with that. Our amazing friend the DVD player was our saving grace.
Yes, I am one of THOSE parents.
He falls asleep and I do too. Things are great. We wanted to drive to Winston- Salem where we used to live to stay the night. Jason was determined not to stop until we got there. The rain slowed us down and we arrived at 2 in the morning and I crawled into bed at 2:30 am.
Then, the misery begins. One hour later the little guy woke up.
Time to nurse.
No he doesn't want that.
Rock him.
No.
Sing to him?
No.
An hour passes and Jason told me to turn on the Baby Einstein.  So I do, yes this should work. He will fall asleep. 30 minutes pass. He is still awake.  I deiced to push replay. This time I put him back in the pack-n-play and hope he will watch and fall asleep. Boy does he watch.
He looked like a little prisoner with his face meshed up against the pack-n-play. So sad. I felt like the worst parent.
Still awake.
Fast forward, 3 hours have passed and he finally falls asleep. I lay him down and the bed is calling my name. As I wrap the blanket around me....zzzzzzz.....I am out. until 40  minutes later he is up again.
I get out of bed and fall to the floor.
How did I get here?  I try to stand up and fall again. My leg is asleep. I am telling Joseph to hold on. I promise I will pick you up again when my leg can hold my body up again.
I muster all the strength I have left and pick him up. More bouncing and he is asleep.
Then I do what I said I would never do before I had my baby.
I put him in bed with me.
Only for him to wake up for the day 20 minutes later.
The joys of parenthood. Why didn't I do this sooner?!

Update:
Well after reading the comments and getting calls from others I thought I would tell you that I find it all a bit humorous now. Especially the part when I fell on the floor!
So don't feel bad for me, it's my life and I love that little boy to much to get mad.

leaving.

We are extremely blessed! Not only will Jason's job be sending us back home, they are sending us this weekend for a house hunting trip. I cannot wait to see some places of where we might live soon. It's a perfect weekend to go since this Saturday will be Jason's birthday and he can spend it not only with family but his twin sister Jamie. Cannot wait to see you all. And for those I will not see, I am moving home in 3 weeks so we will catch up then.

I am nervous for the plane ride. Wish us luck. We leave tomorrow morning.

Finally!!!!

It has taken me forever to post about my trip to GA. As in true Rebecca fashion I didn't pull the camera out enough.
Jason and I drove out to GA, and it was by far the worst drive of my entire life!!! Joseph refused to eat when we left around 3:00. His last meal was at 9:30am. I figured he would be ready to eat soon and therefore we pulled over the first time he started crying. He still didn't want to eat. Then I put a screaming baby back into his car seat and continued on with the trip. This went on for the rest of the day. He refused to nurse until 10:00 pm! Jason and I were pulling hairs out because we were going so crazy! Then around 1:00am I made Jason pull over and get a hotel because I was soo sleepy and couldn't rest in the car he told me we only had 3 hours left and we should just keep going, but I could only think about my baby who would wake around 6:30 and I would be too tired to play with him. Bad choice. Joseph woke the moment we go in the hotel and didn't go to sleep until the time we would have arrived at my in laws. The next day we were at a rest stop, it was raining and while walking to the car Jason and I both stepped into a HUGE puddle and got our feet soaking wet. Then the grand finally happened. Jason slipped on a banana peel. That was the first time we laughed the entire road trip. Shortly after arriving in GA we made it to Jason's sister's house. Jamie fed us and cheered us up. Joseph has sooo many cousins and this is the only proof we have! Here is Amelia and Joseph, super funny pictures of them both!

He got to meet his aunt Alison for the first time during the trip. She came down from Utah!

Now here are the Christmas pictures, I just couldn't stop taking them of my little man. When Jason saw what he was wearing he told his son, better you than me!
Christmas morning, us waiting for daddy to wake up. (we finally just helped him out a bit!)

More forced posing.

Oops!! Falling into the gifts.

The only shot of Jason's family I got on Christmas.
The only shot of my family on Christmas. It happened to be only the guys.

One of my best friends from high school, Nick, came and ate Christmas dinner with us. When My cousin Amy heard she had to be there too! We had way too much fun talking about good ol' high school. Our whole gang was together again, except for Missy. We missed you!

Surprise surprise!! My oldest brother Barrett made it down with his girlfriend Jessica and they got to meet Joseph for the first time too! Joseph really liked Barrett a lot.
We had sooooo much fun and cannot wait to see all of you again!

Home sweet home.

Joseph's first road trip went very well. He would sleep and pretty much wake up to eat or be changed. I did feel really bad every time I put him back into the car seat. He just didn't like it at all. I got really good at changing his diaper while he was in my lap.
Jason and I enjoyed our time in GA. We got to see so many family members and friends while we were there. We are sorry if we didn't get to spend a lot of time with some of you we really did try our best to make the rounds. We came home yesterday. Which was earlier than we had planed but we really needed some time alone before Jason went back to work. We have only been alone with Joesph for one week, so these next few days will be some fun family days together.

Rock and Roll.

Joseph has a natural part in his hair and I tend to comb his hair to follow the part. However Jason thinks I am making him look like a nerd when he has a part in his hair. Jason will comb it all forward. So the other night while Jason was at school I decided to make Joseph hip and cool with a rad Mohawk!!
My kid is soo in the now. Hahaha
He loves to sleep with both of his arms up. We think it is just so cute.

My little man had his two week appointment yesterday and he now weighs 8lbs 4oz. He is growing and gaining more now that his tongue works the way it should. We are both doing great and we leave Saturday for GA. We will be there for two whole weeks!!!!

My parents were in NC for a small trip and decided to drive up to VA to see Jason and me for the 4th of July weekend. We had a lot of fun and walked a ton!! I am still sore. Starting with the top row of pictures........we got to go to the Washington D.C. temple. It's one of my Church's temples where you get married. This is the temple my parents were sealed in 30 years ago. They had not been back since then and really enjoyed getting to see it again.

The second row of pictures.......we went to a few sites at night which turned out to be really nice because it wasn't too hot and there weren't so many people out. The only problem we did run into was a certain pregnant lady who had to use the bathroom all the time and it was hard to find restrooms at night. :) We didn't get to really see any fireworks on the 4th and that is my favorite part about the 4th. It was rainy and we were all sooo tired. We did catch a few the next night which made up for missing them.

The last row of pictures......We went to Mt. Vernon where George Washington lived. I learned a lot about him and now I want to learn even more. He was such a amazing man. I recommend you checking this place out if you ever make it to VA, just know you will stand in line for almost 2 hours to get inside his home, but it's worth the wait.

My parents left yesterday and my mom will be flying out this Saturday with her ticket she bought a while back. I am sure she is sick of my tiny apartment or will be by the end of her next visit!! I go to the Dr. tomorrow so I will give you all a update then. I believe I am slowly losing my plug. If any of you wanted to know that! If not sorry to gross you out.

You just cannot keep me away.

Jason and I are going down to GA for mothers day weekend!!

It's totally last minute and we are really excited. We didn't think we would be back before the baby was born so this will be nice. Mostly for Jason he hasn't been able to see his family in a while.

Vacation of Fun

So my trip to GA was great!! I was going down to GA for a family baby shower and got soo much more. I was surprised with three siblings I didn't know were going to be in town. First My brother Barrett was in the car when I got picked up at the airport. Later that day my mom told me the missionaries were coming over for dinner. After they were a hour late I was getting upset because I was sooo hungry. Then in walked my sister Alison from Utah. I was sooo confused, because right behind her was my other sister, Rachel from Utah with her whole family. I knew Rachel was moving back to GA but I thought she was moving after my trip. My whole family was being all sneaking and planned to surprise me. It was well worth all the effort because my entire family has not been together in 9yrs. Also my brother Barrett is about to go to Korea for a year. Most of you know Spencer is moving and I live in VA so who knows when the next time all of us will be together again. Top left, Barrett, Spencer, Jessica, me, Rachel and Alison.

My baby shower was amazing!! Thanks to all who planned it and showed up for it. Looking at all my new stuff is really making it sink in that I have a baby on the way. Because the large growth from my belly hasn't done the trick yet.
I am not posting very many pictures because A. all of my sisters have on there websites
B. I didn't really take any pictures.
Last on my vacation of fun my sister in law Stacy threw a great Birthday/ going away party for my brother Spencer. It was soo much fun seeing all my old friends from GA. I took zero pictures once again. I don't know why I had my camera on me at all times but I just never took it out.
Today I have to unpack all my luggage and find a place for all of my baby boys new belongings and get my house clean again. I can tell a man has lived here by himself the past 12 days.

This is all that's on my mind. Sorry I have a boring life at the moment.

Spring Break = Spring Cleaning

I have known for months now that I would be having family come and visit me the first two weeks of April. However it just didn't sink in that April is next week, until yesterday. The first week we will have Jason's sister Liz and her family come during their spring break to visit D.C. Then the next week we will have Jason's brother Doug and his family come during their spring break.
I have been cleaning all day and trying to make sure our little home is nice and comfortable when family arrives. When I googled cleaning that is the picture that pulled up first and I thought it fit my mood perfectly after a long day of house work.

Hello.

So I fear I have let down most of my blog readers, I am normally the one telling you to update or make a new post. I know I drive half of you crazy about it, and here I am not posting to you in what feels like weeks.
I will start where I left off and try to keep it short.
Jason and I moved into our new place in VA. It is really nice and I am getting used to walking up to the fourth floor now. It really isn't that bad. I only have two more rooms to finish unpacking. We found our church building and It has four wards that meet in it! Our time we go to church is from 2:30 till 5:30. It was weird leaving church when it was dark.
We drove for 10 hours to get home for Christmas and we have loved spending time with our family. I have had plenty of time with my cousins who are pretty much like sisters to me because we grew up two doors down from one another.
Yesterday I got to see my best friend Megan Rogers, She is expecting too and is further along than I am. It was fun seeing her and her cute belly.
Today is Sunday and I am sick. Bummer. Also my sweet niece Teryn will be getting baptised today around 1:30.
I hope you are happy and I will try to post more when I get back to VA.

i am back

Jason and I got back from GA on Sunday night. What normally takes us five hours to get home took us 7 due to holiday traffic. It was a big bummer. I forgot to bring my camera to GA so I have NO pictures of how much fun we had.
On our first night there my sister in law invited us to her parents house. They have a tradition of getting together the day before Thanksgiving and eating dessert so you have room to to eat all the yummy food the next day. I was so glad to be able to go, Stacy made my favorite pie ever...Chocolate Chip pie. It was AMAZING!! We got to talk to old friends we have not seen in a while and play pool.
The next day we spent it at Jason's brothers house. Boy were there a ton of people there!! almost 30 people so you can bet we never stopped eating or talking. I did miss my grandmothers mac and cheese and her dressing it was my first time not making it to the family get together.
We are moving in three weeks! I cannot believe how quickly it has come. I will keep you all posted.

We are back.

Jason and I went to VA as you all know. On the first night he drove me to the Washington D.C. Temple for our church. It just so happens to be the same Temple my parents were sealed in. It was sooo BIG and pretty at night. I just had to take a picture, the black line you see going down the right side of the picture was the pole for the American flag. We also saw this saying posted on bumper stickers and shirts. Not sure why they have it or why VA is for lovers but it made me laugh.
It took us forever to find our new home, everything is way over priced out there. Thats about all I have to say, because it was not a very fun trip looking for a home.

Road Trip

Today Jason and I are going on a road trip to find our new home!! I am pretty excited. There is one good thing about moving around often... you get to see more of what you want in a home and what you don't want. Every time we get a new place it just gets better. I have been sick since yesterday, I am feeling much better today but still sick I hope after all the sleep I get while Jason is driving makes me feel better for tomorrow!! Wish us luck!

Down Syndrome Buddy Walk.

Jason and I at the buddy walk. We were on team M&M for Mary and Milly. Each family creates their own team name, also most people make shirts for everyone on the team. Jamie drew the cute little M&M's and I helped her iron them onto the shirts on Friday night.
Cute little Amelia all ready for the walk.
Mary having fun after the walk was over. They had lots of music and food so she was dancing.

Proud mama!!! Here is to you Jamie for getting everyone to the Buddy walk. I had a blast!!

cousins, mexican food and missy

So I know I am posting like 2 post within 2 minutes but I really don't care. I didn't have time to post these when they really happened so I am doing it while I have time. Friday after meeting Braden for the first time Alison and I drove for almost three hours to get back to Covington so we could go to dinner with our cousins, Jill, Beth, Amy and our family friend Missy. Well when we got home I only had a hour to get a shower and be at my cousins house. I was on the bed when I fell asleep. I was sooo tired from staying up with Jessica at the hospital that I was woke up by Alison 30 minutes later to find out that we didn't have any water. So now it was down to 30 minutes to get my dirty self together for my Mexican dinner. Finally I was walking out the door. At dinner Alison and I took turns telling all the funny stories about Jessica and her being doped on drugs. (Which will have to be another post.) After all the hard work I went through to get there I had a blast! I miss my cousins and Missy since I don't get to see them very often.
well I think I am done posting for the night.

shop till you drop

Since Alison came to Ga also we have been able to spend some much needed time together. On Saturday Alison, Teryn and I went to old town conyers to go shopping for a while. You know we had to take some pictures to capture the moments we shared. Of course because Alison and me went shopping I bought more stuff I probably don't even need. For some reason whenever I shop with her I buy stuff I normally would have put down before walking out of the store. I cannot complain I love my new shirt and earrings!!

Amelia and Me
On Saturday we went to our nephew Wills firsts soccer game. There is nothing cuter than a bunch of four year olds trying to kick a soccer ball around.
Mary Bear!!

Jason and Susan.
On Sunday Jason's best friend, Susan came over with her newest family member. We had so much fun catching up. Her little girl, Taylor is only 3 wks older than Amelia and is soo much bigger. We put the girls next to each other so you could see how tiny Amelia is. She is only 7 lbs.

We got to meet Amelia for the first time. Jason really took to her. How couldn't you? She is so cute!!
