snap crackle pop

i twisted my left ankle about a month ago. it still hurts occasionally if i move my foot in a weird way. i have been very careful with my ankle, trying to help it heal.
today i went to rae's house. when i got there my sweet boy daniel had fallen asleep. that was a good thing, because he had been a nightmare for half of the afternoon because he needed to sleep. he has become very good at putting up a good fight at nap time.
i wasn't going to wake him, i was going to use this moment to snuggle him and enjoy his babyish snuggles while he was asleep.
i picked him up in cradle position and was walking around the mini van when...pop! my right ankle decided to join in on the fun that my left ankle has been having, i twisted my ankle. in doing so it made me cry in public and fall to the ground with my sleeping toddler in tow. daniel was laying in the grass when he woke up.
he looked at me doubled over. stood up and walked to rae's front door.
i just lay there.
not moving for fear i might have broken my foot. a few minutes pass and i felt like i could walk. i could! i could put pressure on it and i had not been able to do that with the other ankle the day i twisted it. things were looking good....or so i thought.
since i tucked those boys into bed, i have not been able to put much pressure on it. i have iced it and elevated it, but those things have only seemed to bother me more. i am not sure what is going on with my body. but i feel it might be slowly turning against me.

its official.

i have a old mom body now. the one where you complain about your back hurting and you put the hymnal behind it at church to put a little bit of pressure on your lower back.

i am that old lady who can really predict when it's going to rain because my wrist starts to hurt every time before the weather gets bad.

i am old.
and i really thought i had more time..

  1. It's all preventable. Don't let anyone tell you differently and don't ever accept differently.
